For years now we have been passionately devoted to making Surf Hatteras an utterly unique experience in the realm of surfing and summer camps. So it feels pretty good to receive emails from parents and campers after every session who rave about their experience. Some even offer to write advertisements for us! The following are excerpts from a few of our favorite unsolicited emails:
Surf Hatteras Camp can easily be labeled as the best camp my son has ever attended. The Executive Director, Ross Byrd, takes it upon himself to see that every child at camp has the experience of a lifetime and makes each child feel special. Along with Ross, every single staff member shows an enthusiastic interest in each child and works with all of the kids and shows them a superb time as well as great surfing skills. My son said that every minute of every day was as fun as the last...there was never a dull moment and each day was packed full of surfing, fun and laughs. Beyond that, the food is prepared to suit even the pickiest eater, and, no surfer can go the beach without sunscreen which is a major plus in my book as well. The care and love shown to these campers is off the charts.
My son has made me promise that he can go back next summer...for AT LEAST one week! Thank you Surf Hatteras Camp for showing my son the best time of his life!
I know this is way overdue, but my wife and I wanted to thank you for the wonderful experience Emily had at Surf Camp this summer...You guys provided a great environment for her to experience surfing and being on her own with no family or friends. She came back confident, happy, and in love with surfing. She's already talking about going back again next year.
Margot had a fantastic time at your camp. My daughters have attended Billabong surf camps in Florida for several years in a row, and although the waves were maybe more challenging, your camp definitely was an overall better experience. She enjoyed that your camp was so well organized, that the kids were so nice and friendly, that there were always fun activities to do, that the staff was great, the house so nice and clean, and the food excellent. Margot couldn't stop ‘bragging’ about what a great time she had...she can't wait to come back next summer! Thank you for making her week at camp such a memorable experience!

Just wanted to thank you for a great week at camp for Marybeth! She had a blast and regaled us of tales of camp adventures. Sounds like you know how to keep the kids entertained (plus now she knows how to surf!)!
The weeks spent with you, your staff and the rest of the campers has been the highlight of Nicole's summer and she is looking forward to attending this year. I also must add that I've heard and read nothing but great things about your program. Your philosophy seems to be able to blend a learning experience, fellowship and responsibility with a great time at the beach. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to meet.

I just have to say that Trevor has thoroughly loved surfing this summer as a result of coming to your camp…He really has improved quite a bit and has loved every minute…I know he definitely wants to come back…
Dear Hannah and Ross, I just talked to Kara and she had the TIME OF HER LIFE. She said she had so much fun and that you both did such a great job in entertaining them and making them feel happy. She loved everything about the camp and said the counselors were all super and the other kids too. She even said that she thought not having the cell phones was a great idea because she did not think that they would have gotten to know each other as they did otherwise. So see, there is still hope for our teenagers. ;-) I want to thank you all for making this so much fun.
