Surf Hatteras campers pay in two installments. Today you will simply pay the deposit to hold your spot. Your final payment is then due May 1.
Today’s payment of $423.50 will be paid directly to our lodging company, Surf Hatteras Lodging*, because it covers the lodging portion of your camp payment, plus taxes that are specific to the lodging.** Once we receive it, we’ll invoice you for the balance, which will be paid to the camp, Surf Hatteras.
*Surf Hatteras Lodging is the company that handles camper accommodations.
**In case you’re curious, your deposit will cover three things: your accommodations portion ($200), the required 11.75% sales & occupancy tax on that amount ($23.50), and a down payment for camp ($200).
Cancellation Policy:
A $400 deposit plus $23.50 tax is needed to hold a camper’s spot for any session. This deposit is non-refundable. The entire balance for all summer camp sessions is
due May 1. (For Winter/Spring sessions the balance is due 30 days prior to the first day of camp.) After the due date this amount is also non-refundable. For unforeseen events such as mandatory evacuation (e.g. due to a named storm) or a cancelled flight, travel insurance is available; see below.
Zero Tolerance Policy:
Surf Hatteras will absolutely not tolerate the use of alcohol or illegal drugs by campers at any time during camp sessions. Those found to be in violation of this rule will not simply be warned, but will be sent home immediately without a refund.
CSA Travel Insurance:
This is an optional policy that reimburses up to $1500 in the event of session cancellation or interruption for covered reasons (e.g. mandatory hurricane evacuation, cancelled flight, covered injury or illness, etc). We receive no commission from this and are therefore able to offer it at a discounted rate! For those who choose “YES”, the amount will simply be added to your final balance.
