Surfline.com, the worldwide leader in online surf reports and surf forecasting, recently published a front page article with the following title:

For a surfer, there’s nothing worse than running excitedly down to the beach with all your gear, only to be greeted by

an ocean that looks like a lake. If you surf anywhere on the East Coast, you’ve probably experienced this way too many times, especially in the summer. And this is one of the many reasons we believe Hatteras Island is such an ideal location for a surf camp.
When no one else around us is getting waves, we are. In the last three years, we haven’t had a single day of camp when we couldn’t go surfing!
In June and July in particular, we tend to get some of the most consistent surf on the East Coast during the safest, most laid back time of year. (So no need to be intimidated by the photos of massive Fall & Winter waves you may have seen!) Summertime conditions tend to be extremely accessible to beginning surfers and also fun – and often times quite challenging – for our most advanced surfers. Bottom line, if you’re interested in surfing on the East Coast, this is where you want to be.
